Area pools to open in June

City of Kitchener outdoor pools open for the season in June and aquatics supervisors are preparing their staff for intensive training to ensure that all swimmers are safe, and aware of what it takes to keep families safe around water.
Outdoor pools will not open daily if the weather is cold, raining or storm warnings are in effect. The first of the City of Kitchener’s outdoor pools (Idlewood Pool at 5 Thaler Ave.) is scheduled to open for the 2010 summer swim season on Monday, May 31, weather permitting.
All of the city’s outdoor pools will be open by June 18, weather permitting. Harry Class Pool, located at 45 Woodside Ave., will open on June 5. Wilson Pool, located at 78 Wilson Ave., will open Saturday, June 12. Kiwanis Park and pool, located at 1000 Kiwanis Park Dr., will open for the weekend of June 11-13. It will be closed through the following week, but opens every day starting Friday, June 18.
As for the area Splash pads…Chandler Mowat splash pad opens Friday, May 21. Doon Pioneer Park sprayground opens May 31. Victoria Park splash pad will open on Friday, June 11. The Breithaupt Park wading pool, located on Union Avenue, will open on Saturday, June 19.
Summer swim passes are available to purchase at all indoor pools now.
