Suspicious item found in Guelph park

On Tuesday at 8:15pm, Guelph Police were contacted to investigate a suspicious device.
A female youth that had been riding her bicycle near the leash free park just off the Hanlon expressway located the item and brought it home. Guelph Police transported the device, which appeared to be a pipe bomb back to the Guelph Police station.
It was then determined that the Waterloo bomb disposal unit would be utilized to destroy it. Guelph Police will be conducting a search of the area this morning to ensure that there are no further devices.
Guelph Police would like to remind everyone that if you see any item that looks
suspicious, please do not touch it. Just contact Police immediately.
