Summer visit by the Queen

The Queen and Prince Phillip will visit Kitchener-Waterloo this summer.
Details are still being worked out, but the visit will take place between July 3rd and the 6th.
570 News has learned her stop may include a tour of Research in Motion.
She will also visit Toronto during that time.
The news came today in an e-mail from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The nine-day royal visit starts June 28th in Halifax.
The Queen’s last visit was in 2005, when she toured Saskatchewan and Alberta on the centennial of their entry into Confederation.
She has not been to Waterloo region since June 25th, 1973.
Here are some details of that visit from the Kitchener Public Library.
– The Queen & Prince Philip arrived by Royal Train in Breslau at 10:03. She was officially welcomed by Waterloo Regional Chairman Jack Young, Provincial Justice Secretary George Kerr and by Woolwich Mayor Howard Ziegler. She stayed in Breslau for 7 minutes.
– The Queen wore a white silk dress in pale yellow checks with matching hat.
– Next they travelled by car to Riverside Park in Cambridge. The crowd started lining up at 5 am that morning. She was greeted by Cambridge Mayor Claudette Miller, Waterloo MP Max Saltsman, MPP for Waterloo South (and Legislature Speaker) Allan Reuter and Chief City Administrator Harry Ritz.
– Her car cavalcade travelled to Kitchener at 10:45 am to the relocated cenotaph at Frederick & Duke St. A crowd of 15,000 lined the area around the cenotaph and many more thousands along the route, standing up to 10 deep.
