Local police help with Toronto raids

Toronto police say 71 people have been arrested in a crackdown on two street gangs that terrorized the northwest area of the city.
Chief William Blair says two notorious gangs were allegedly involved in trafficking drugs and guns in the area, as well as a significant amount of violence.
The crackdown, dubbed “Project Corral,” involved police officers from numerous services across Ontario, including some tactical officers from the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
Police report a number of firearms were seized, along with $30,000 in cash.
Also seized were drugs including cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, hashish oil, more than 10,000 ecstasy pills, body armour, vehicles and diamonds.
The arrests came after more than 1,000 police officers conducted about 100 pre-dawn raids early today in Toronto and Ottawa.
