The Museum in downtown Kitchener unveils an out of this world exhibit today.
“CosmicMania: Our Space Rocks!” runs into mid-September and features scores of artifacts and activities.
You can check out an actual moon rock estimated to be over one billion years old and retrieved by Apollo15 astronauts.
There’s also an asteroid that’s 4.6-billion-years old, as well as a meteorite from Mars and a Lunar meteorite.
David Marskell, Chief Executive Officer of The Museum, says the exhibit was a huge undertaking involving a number of partners – the Canadian Space Agency, NASA, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Perimeter Institute and the University of Waterloo among them.
He says there are also daily planetarium shows, a model lunar rover and a helmet once worn by an astronaut.
