Spitfires win a wild Game Four, 7-5

Taylor Hall’s goal with under 2 minutes to play allowed the Windsor Spitfires to live to play another day. Adam Henrique’s 2nd of the game into the empty net put the finishing touch on a solid effort by the visitors who needed to win to avoid elimination.
Windsor took a 4-1 lead into the 3rd period, but thanks to goals by Matt Tipoff, Jeff Skinner and Jason Akeson the Rangers came all the way back to tie the game at four. Adam Henrique then broke the 4-4 tie with a powerplay goal, giving Windsor a 5-4 lead. Soon after, Kenny Ryan looked to put the Spitfires up by 2 but his goal was disallowed after officials ruled he kicked the puck into the net.
Chris MacKinnon then scored for Kitchener with under 3 minutes left to tie the game 5-5 and it looked like they were headed to overtime once again, before Hall scored to secure the win and send the series back to Windsor for Game Five.
The Spitfires raced to a 3-0 lead in the first on goals by Scott Timmins, Zack Kassian and Greg Nemisz. Windsor outshot Kitchener 18-7 in the first period.
Chris MacKinnon was awarded a penalty shot after being hauled down on a breakaway, but failed to score on Philipp Grubauer. Windsor restored their 3-goal lead on Kassian’s 2nd goal of the game late in the 2nd period.

Kitchener now leads the series 3-games-to-1 and can advance to the OHL Final with a victory in Game Five which is scheduled for Thursday night in Windsor. Don and Gary will have the call on 570 News beginning at 7 o’clock.
