Robberies on decline in region

It may not seem like it some days, but the number of robberies in Waterloo Region and Guelph is on the decline.
Statistics Canada reports the number of robberies here fell 20% in 2008 when compared to 2007.
Waterloo Region recorded 238 robberies in 2008, while Guelph had 39.
This morning’s Record reports, in both cases, that’s roughly half the national rate.
Guelph had the 3rd lowest robbery rate in the country in 2008, while Waterloo Region had the 6th lowest.
Western Canadian cities had the highest robbery rates in the nation with Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Vancouver and Edmonton topping the list.
