Enteric outbreak at Kitchener retirement home

An enteric outbreak was declared at Victoria Place on Queen Street South on February 19th and has sickened about 60 residents and staff.
The symptoms, which include vomiting and diarrhea, are consistent with the norovirus, which is making the rounds this winter.
Waterloo Region Manager of Health Protection and Investigation Brenda Miller tells 570 News no one has been hospitalized and everyone is recovering.
She says no visitor restrictions are in place, however larger groups are asked to stay away until after the outbreak has been declared over.
Family members, however, are not being told to stay away.
She says it usually takes 3 or 4 weeks for a facility to be virus-free.
