Cambridge man killed in crash

A 92-year old Cambridge man has been killed in a crash. Regional police say the collision happened last Wednesday (February 17th) at the corner of Hespeler and Munch. Details of Leslie Farris’ death were only released today as police awaited the results of an autopsy.
Spokesperson Olaf Heinzel tells 570 News their investigation suggests Farris may have run a red light at the intersection, colliding with a car making a left turn onto Munch. The impact sent Farris’ car into a light standard and he suffered serious injuries. Heinzel says Farris died two days later in hospital. While the investigation continues, Heinzel says charges are pending against the driver of the car — a 26-year old woman from Cambridge. Heinzel says it’s possible she made an unsafe turn.
He says police are using this as an opportunity to remind all motorists to be aware of traffic around them at all times. Heinzel says we can not rely on traffic signals as the sole factor in determining whether it’s safe to make a turn.
