UPDATE – Toyota recall

Repairs to Toyota vehicles with possible sticky gas pedals should be complete in less than a month.

The automaker will start notifying customers of the fix next week.

A company spokesperson says Toyota is moving quickly to correct the problem that affects about 4.2 million vehicles in Canada, the U.S., Europe, and China.

Toyota says cases of sticking gas pedals are rare.

The company which makes the pedals, C-T-S Corp. also announced on Thursday it was ramping up production to meet the replacement demand.

Toyota’s accelerator pedal recall  includes the following Toyota Division vehicles:

     2009-2010 RAV4
     2009-2010 Corolla
     2009-2010 Matrix
     2005-2010 Avalon
     Certain 2007-2010 Camry’s
     2010 Highlander
     2007-2010 Tundra
     2008-2010 Sequoia

Toyota has halted production and sales of the models affected.  It expects to announce next week whether vehicles already on the road will have the systems repaired or replaced.
