They’ll be ringing in the new year in Waterloo and Cambridge tonight

Waterloo Public Square program coordinator, Tracy Suerich says that city has a whole evening of festivities planned from free skating to a Rock n’ Roll party.
Suerich says all of the cities recreation complexes have something going on. The Waterloo Memorial Complex is hosting a public swim and skate at 7pm. RIM park and Albert McCormick will also host a free skate.
But Suerich says the real party starts at 9:00 p.m. at the public square with a rock n’ roll party that includes live DJ’s, lighting shows, giveaways a Champaign toast and a pyrotechnics show at midnight.

Meantime, New Year’s Eve celebrations will be in full swing in the City of Cambridge from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Linda Fegan with the city tells 570 News, they will host a family New Year’s Eve skate party at the Hespeler arena. She says the party will include face painting, games, costumed characters, like Mickey and Mini Mouse and a “rocking” skate party.
On the second twin pad at the arena, Fegan says there will be a Party Rockers Video Skate party for older skaters. She says there will be videos and music for people to skate along to. The other arena will be open for younger kids.
The event is free. Fegan says all you need to bring is your skates and a New Year’s spirit.
