Guelph Police make arrests in credit card scam

Four people face various charges in an alleged forged credit card scam in Guelph.

Police say the four were arrested late yesterday afternoon after they received a call from a grocery store. The clerk there became suspicious when someone tried to purchase gift cards using a credit card.

Police say that suspect left the store without making a purchase after the clerk asked several qualifying questions.  Staff followed them out of the store, took note of the vehicle in which they left and informed police.

Police later stopped the vehicle, one they say was involved in two other incidents involving the use of forged credit cards. Three of the accused are from the Toronto-area, while the fourth is from Sudbury.
