Kitchener man facing drug charge, another charged with racing

Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges of Racing and Possession of Cocaine following a traffic stop that occurred near Wingham this past weekend.

At approximately 12:32 p.m. on November 23, 2019 a Huron OPP officer observed a minivan travelling eastbound on Amberley Road at a high rate of speed. A radar device was used and the vehicle's speed was measured in excess of 160 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone. 

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was charged with Racing. A subsequent search of the vehicle found a passenger in possession of suspected cocaine.  

The driver, Gurkan EMIN, 50 years of age from Kitchener has been charged with Racing. His motor vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days and his driver's licence has been suspended for seven days. He will now have to attend Provincial Offences Court in Goderich on January 7, 2020 to answer to the charge. 

The passenger, 34-year-old Shane FOWLER from Kitchener has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 23, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
