Kitchener man accused of drug trafficking in Thunder Bay released on bail

THUNDER BAY – A southern Ontario man accused of dealing drugs out of a Cornwall address along with two other men has been granted bail.
Isaiah Banton, 20, appeared by audio on Friday, Oct. 16, in Thunder Bay bail court and was granted release from custody with a surety and a promise to pay $6,000 in the event he breaches any of his bail conditions.
Banton, and his two co-accused Carlo Anderson, 45, of Thunder Bay and Joshua Samuels, 21, of Ajax, were arrested after city police executed a drug search warrant on Oct. 7.
The police service’s drug intelligence unit had identified a Cornwall Avenue address as being connected to drug trafficking activity, according to a previous police news release.
On Oct. 7, just before 4 p.m. officers entered the home and arrested Anderson, Banton and Samuels. Police located and seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
All three men were charged with possession of cocaine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Part of Banton’s release conditions requires him to live with his surety in southern Ontario and stay out of the city of Thunder Bay. He is not allowed to possess any drugs, weapons or drug paraphernalia. He also cannot have any contact with his two co-accused.
He will return to court in November.
