Fire under investigation at Sheave Tower in Cambridge

Cambridge Fire is confirming there was a fire at the historic Sheave Tower in the Blair area of the city.

Crews were called to the tower on Old Mill Road just before midnight Wednesday.

Fire officials say they quickly extinguished a working fire, and the cause remains under investigation.

Regional police said nobody was hurt.

Damage is estimated at about $5,000.

The tower dates back to the 1840s, and was restored in the 1990s.
