Trish Stratus to host WWE event in Kitchener

By Mark Pare

Kitchener could very well be getting WWE Superstars at their very best this weekend.

The WWE returns to Kitchener for the first time since March 2018, and Saturday's event comes exactly a week before the company's biggest show of the year, Wrestlemania 38 in Dallas, Texas.

Among those taking part is WWE Hall of Famer — and judge on the revived Canada's Got Talent show on CityTV — Trish Stratus.

Things should get interesting on a couple fronts with Stratus, as the Toronto native admits she's not too sure what she's getting into in a hosting role.

“When I was asked to host, I was kind of like first 'so, what does a host do, exactly?” she said with a laugh in an interview with CityNews 570.

“I just look at it as an opportunity to of course get back and deliver Stratusfaction to my fans, see the fans again, see the excitement, feel the energy, and then just looking at the roster and thinking 'okay, what would be fun (and) where can I sub myself in and interact with these superstars and stuff maybe you haven't seen before.”

Stratus said she has her eye on, among other people, WWE RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch, who had a war of words with Stratus' 'bestie,' fellow WWE Hall of Famer Amy Dumas, better known as Lita.

She's also looking forward to perhaps interacting with WWE stars Austin Theory, and Montreal area native Kevin Owens.

Tickets are still available, and start at just over $25.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
