NHL players to coach in local charity road hockey tournament

By Blair Adams

The childhood dream of most Canadian kids who play hockey is to make the National Hockey League, so may be the next best thing is to be coached by one of those NHLers in a charity road hockey tournament.

The Grand River Hospital Foundation has announced the first annual Scotland’s Yard Road Hockey Classic. Funds raised will go to children’s cancer care at Kitchener's Grand River Hospital.

Teams that raise the most money will have the opportunity to draft one of nine professional players to coach their team during the tournament. The confirmed list of players includes Mike Hoffman, Logan Stanley, Nick Suzuki and Ben Chiarot.

The tournament will take place Friday, July 8 in the parking lot at Catalyst137. It's all-ages and teams are guaranteed at least three games.

Registration closes June 30. Details can be found here.
