Westbound 401 lanes set to close through Cambridge overnight Monday

Get ready for a pair of major overnight closures on the 401 through Cambridge. 

The Ministry of Transportation confirms to 570 NEWS that westbound 401 lanes will be closed between Townline and Hespeler Road next Monday, September 17. 

The closure will be in effect for girder installation, and it's all part of the ongoing Franklin Bridge reconstruction project. 

Westbound 401 lanes will be closed Monday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the work – although dates and times are still weather dependent. 

During the westbound closure, motorists will be able to detour via Townline, Pinebush, and Hespeler Roads. 

Another scheduled closure on the 401 will be in place in the eastbound lanes in that same stretch – but there's still no set date for when that will happen.
