Waterloo Mayor Dave Jaworsky delivered his annual State of the City address in front of a packed room at RIM Park on Tuesday morning.

Jaworsky touched on a number of subjects, including the improvements and clean up of recreational areas and says work continues to eliminate gaps in transportation.

The main theme of his speech was “giving”, asking residents for their ideas.

“It's about giving information, giving ideas to us on our strategic plan, giving back to the community in terms of volunteerism … We can't just do it all on property tax dollars. It's something we all have to come together and figure out how to get this done to keep this beautiful city of Waterloo, that we have today.” Jaworsky told 570 NEWS, following his speech.

He also addressed regional reform.

“In my assessment, what I've done, I think the region works well as it is today with the set of seven municipalities and the regional upper tier … What the province has in mind for us? I really hope they're really listening to the citizens and do more consultation. I really hope citizens fill out the web page and give their input on how they feel so strongly for Waterloo and Waterloo Region.” said Jaworsky.
