Two Boston Pizza restaurants in Waterloo, one in Kitchener and another in Stratford have gone into receivership.

A spokesperson for Boston Pizza International Inc. confirmed the four restaurants have closed to KitchenerToday.com, on Thursday afternoon.

“We regret that the current local owner has decided to close his four Boston Pizza restaurants.” the company said in a brief statement.

“However, given the continued popularity and success of the other Boston Pizzas in the area and all across Canada, we will work quickly to find new owners and return more Boston Pizza restaurants to the area as soon as possible.” the statement went on to say.

The four locations that have closed are:

  • 651 Erb Street West in Waterloo
  • 597 King Street in Waterloo
  • 721 Ottawa Street South in Kitchener
  • 729 Erie Street in Stratford

The company will not say how many employees have been impacted by the closures, “Given the franchise nature of the Boston Pizza business, we're not at liberty to share information pertaining to our independent owner/operators' operations.” said Marian Raty, Director of Communications with Boston Pizza International Inc.
