Schwaben Club set to relocate to new facility in Breslau

After years of Oktoberfest festivities in Kitchener the Schwaben Club is set to relocate to a new location, though revelers won’t have to travel too far to enjoy their regular dose of Donauschwaben culture.

Schwaben Club President Glenn Herold confirmed with 570 NEWS on Monday that the club will be relocating across the Grand River to Breslau, in the Oberkrainer Haus previously owned by the Slovenian Association and SAVA Club. In a release to 570 NEWS, Herold said the new location on Scheifele Place is “well suited to keeping our heritage and traditions alive for years to come.”

Herold said that the club had delayed issuing formal notice on the matter until they were able to notify existing 2021-2022 rentals of the pending move – adding that all contractual obligations will be honoured moving forward. He said that some Schwaben Club customers have been able to tour the new location and are “excited about the opportunities available to them.”

Prior to making the announcement, the Schwaben Club began an online auction on their excess inventory – including everything from an electric piano, solid wood furniture, cooking appliances and pool tables to female mannequins, a rocking baby cradle and cash register tape.

In the release, Schwaben Club assures Oktoberfest revelers that they will continue hosting Oktoberfest activities, citing them as their largest fundraising event of the year.

“We are only down the street from Bingemans, one of the community's other primary Oktoberfest venues.”
