Restoration work underway on Aporia art sculpture

Whether you love it or hate it – the Aporia sculpture in Kitchener is here to stay, and it's even getting a facelift.
The contorted, red piece of art has stood outside the old courthouse on Frederick Street for over 40 years.
It's being refurbished as part of the overall renewal of that property, which will become home to the new central division for Waterloo Regional Police.
Restoration work on Aporia is already underway and is set to be completed by the end of this week, weather permitting.
The price tag for the project is $27,000.
The sculpture has proven to be a bit controversial in our community.
It became the target of vandals twice last summer, and many have said they're 'puzzled' at what the piece of art is even supposed to be.
However, that seems to be the point, as Aporia actually means 'puzzle' or 'a state of puzzlement' in philosphical terms.
Whether you love it or hate it – the Aporia sculpture on Frederick Street is getting rejuvenated. The region tells me the official price tag for the restoration project is $27,000 and work is expected to be completed later this week (if weather cooperates) @570NEWS pic.twitter.com/ZVwXx5NjvS
