Region seeking feedback on possible ramp closures at Lancaster/Highway 85

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The Region of Waterloo is doing an Environmental Assessment to consider the closure of the ramps connecting Lancaster Street and Highway 85 in Kitchener.

“We are looking at the impacts of closing these ramps in order to improve the safety of vehicles on Highway 85, and the safety and comfort of pedestrians and cyclists on Lancaster Street.” stated a news release.

Residents are asked to share their thoughts in an online survey. It will be available until December 19.

Staff will consider the input, technical studies and best practices, to refine the alternative design concepts.

It's expected a report will be presented to regional council for approval once the Environmental Assessment is completed early in the new year.
