Region approves rate cut for licensed home childcare

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Licensed home childcare for children under six is about to get a bit cheaper in our Region.

Regional Council approved a rate cut of 25 per cent at a meeting Wednesday night.

The reduced rates will come into effect on September 1st, retroactive to April this year.

This is part of the first phase of the federal Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) program.

The Licensed Home Child Care program is managed by our Regional government, with a goal of providing inclusive and accessible care to those living in the Region.
