There was an outpouring of support on social media on Wednesday for the executive director of the Coalition of Muslim Women of K-W.

It came as the organization announced that Fauzia Mazhar was recently in a severe car crash in Dubai.

Mazhar is reportedly in crticial condition in an ICU.

Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic tweeted, “Deeply saddened by this news and sending thoughts and prayers to Fauzia and her family during this difficult time. May Allah give her strength in her journey towards recovery, healing and renewed health.”

Regional Chair Karen Redman wrote, “Very saddened to hear this. Fauzia, her family, and the entire CMW community are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.”

Kitchener Centre MPP Laura Mae Lindo said, “Sending lots of prayers, love and healing energy into the universe for Fauzia and her family.”

No further details about the collision were released, as the Coalition of Muslim Women said Mazhar's family has requested privacy during this time.

GoFundMe page has been setup to help cover medical and rehabilitation expenses.

The goal is to raise $125,000 of which, as of Saturday more than $20,000 have already been raised.
