The founder of Sustainable Waterloo Region will be on the ballot for the Green Party of Canada in Kitchener-Centre for the federal election in the fall.

Mike Morrice was nominated at a meeting on Wednesday night.

“I'm doing this because I recognize the significant challenges we face, from economic inequality to gaps in our health system to household debt, all of which are made worse by the climate crisis,” Morrice said in a release. “It’s time our ambition rises to meet the scale of the challenges we face.”

Morrice was up against Ian Graham and Bob Jonkman.

He holds a double degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in business and computer electronics.

The federal election is set to take place on October 21.
