A power outage in Kitchener is slowly being restored.

KW Hydro's outage map said a power outage started just before 4 a.m. Tuesday, and left as many as 2,000 customers in the dark.

The outage initially impacted the Stanley Park, Rockwood and Laurentian Hills areas, but was reduced to the Idlewood area, near Lackner and Ottawa.

Equipment failure is said to be the cause.
