KW Siskins to raise funds for Ukraine at Sunday’s game

By Divya Gill

They are sending help in any way they can. The KW Siskins invite you to come to watch them play this Sunday at no cost. But, donations will be collected to help the Ukraine Refugee Relief fund.

“It will be a cash donation. We want to raise three thousand dollars, but what would be great if we can raise more than that,” said Curtis Clairmont, president and general manager for the KW Siskins.

The Siskins are currently tied for second place, just four points out of first place. Clairmont adds the game would be a great family event.

The Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex will be following the region's health protocols. That means masking is not required, but those wishing to wear one can do so.

The facility can hold up to 4,000 fans. However, Clairmont reassures there will be enough space for everyone who wants to watch the game to feel comfortable.

“We will be tweeting the total amount raised for the Ukraine Refugee Relief Fund as early as Sunday evening.”

“It is only a small way to try and make a difference,” he said.

Sunday's game is against the Brantford Bandits, and puck drop is at 1:30 p.m.
