The KW Legacy surprised nine students in Waterloo Region with scholarships to help pay for post-secondary education.
With a combined total of $52,000 dollars, eight $5,000 dollar scholarships have been handed out, along with one $12,000 dollar scholarship going to Cameron Heights student Sydney Marteniuk.
Requirements to be considered for the award included having a minimum average of 70 per cent, financial need, and being an active community member.
The KW Legacy founding member, Peter Kalbfleisch, says the best part of what they do at KW Legacy is presenting students with their scholarships.
'Meeting the winners and their families is always a special moment.' said Kalbfleisch in a release.
'We are happy to give back by doing what we can to improve the lives of people who live here by helping future community leaders.'
