Kitchener’s popular children’s festival cancelled, forecasts heavy rain (update)

By Isabel Buckmaster

Kitchener’s most popular children’s festival is cancelled following forecasts of heavy rains and thunderstorms this Sunday.

The City of Kitchener and event partner, the Kitchener Public Library thanked performers, entertainers, vendors, sponsors and volunteers and all of those involved for their hard work and dedication to the annual event and look forward to bringing back a bigger and brighter Kidspark in 2023.

Hands-on activities like a rock climbing wall, giant inflatables, and a meet-and-greet with Star Wars characters were going to be offered.

Attendees were encouraged to bring their own snacks or prepare their own picnic, as well as bottled water.

The Waterloo Region Food Bank were going to provide an area for face painting (donations are greatly appreciated.)

Children’s entertainer, Erick Traplin, was planned to take the stage multiple times throughout the day at the Kitchener Public Library.

There will be access to park washrooms, as well as portable toilets.
