Grand River Hospital impacted by cancer drug shortage

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

As our country deals with a cancer drug shortage, a local hospital confirms it too is struggling with supply issues.

Grand River Hospital in Kitchener says it is impacted by the shortage of three IV drugs used to treat lung, breast and testicular cancers.

A spokesperson for GRH tells 570 News the hospital is working with the local health integration networks to coordinate the sharing of the products and try to preserve the limited supply.

GHR says it doesn't know when the cancer drug shortage will be resolved.

And says they will take all necessary measures to ensure that patients continue to receive the highest quality care.

Besides Ontario, hospitals in Nova Scotia and Quebec are also dealing with these shortages.
