GoFundMe launched after fatal garage fire in Cambridge

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

A devastating update after this week's reported garage explosion at a Cambridge home.

It happened Wednesday night on Selkirk Street, and a 47-year-old man was taken to a Hamilton hospital with serious burns.

The Cambridge Fire Department has now confirmed to 570NEWS that the man tragically succumbed to his injuries.

A GoFundMe has been set up to assist the man's family. It identifies the victim as Mike Spittal.

The cause of the fatal fire remains under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal, but officials initially said they do not believe it is suspicious.
