Kitchener home destroyed by fire (update)

Damage is pegged at $800,000 following a house fire in Kitchener.

It happened just after 1:30 Friday morning on Mill Park Drive.

Due to the extent of damage, the home will need to be torn down.

Five people were in the residence at the time of the fire and all managed to get out safely.

No word yet on a cause, as fire officials haven't been able to complete their inspection due to the amount of damage.

Firefighers were still on scene Friday afternoon dealing with some hot spots.
