Cyclist struck by ION in Kitchener (update)

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating after a cyclist was struck by an ION train in Kitchener.
Acting Sgt. Jason Darnell said it happened Friday just before 12:30 p.m. in the Ottawa Street and Courtland Avenue area.
“An eastbound LRT was travelling on Ottawa Street, at that time it came in contact with a 52-year-old male operating a bicycle. The male party was taken to Grand River Hospital with unknown injuries.”
Darnell said the investigation is ongoing.
“This is the first serious collision that myself and our platoon has been involved with involving an LRT.”
Anyone that witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
