23 per cent of local employers plan to hire: Manpower survey

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

ManpowerGroup expects a positive hiring climate in Waterloo Region for the third quarter of 2018.

The latest employment outlook survey, released Tuesday, shows 23 per cent of employers plan to hire between July and September.

Seven per cent of local companies surveyed anticipate cutbacks, while 67 per cent plan on maintaining their current staffing levels.

“With seasonal variations removed from the data, Waterloo Region’s third quarter Net Employment Outlook of 18 per cent is a seven percentage point decrease when compared to the previous quarterly Outlook,” said
Maple Kyriacou of Manpower’s Kitchener office.

“Even though prospects are weaker in six of ten industry sectors compared to last quarter, we’re still seeing a positive hiring climate for most of the country,” added Darlene Minatel, Country Manager for ManpowerGroup Canada.
