What started as a small table of books at Waterloo Town Hall in 1876 has grown into an important resource in the community, and this year, the Waterloo Public Library celebrates a significant milestone.
The library is celebrating 150 years of operation in Waterloo, and has special events and activities planned to mark the occasion.
“One of the magical things about Waterloo Public Library is that it’s always evolving to meet the needs of the community it serves,” said Kelly Kipfer, CEO of the Waterloo Public Library.
“Beyond books, we’re lending games and walking poles, Wi-Fi hotspots and park passes, responding to that desire for people to share resources and be part of the circular economy. We create access to emergent technology so that people can try and learn new things.”
In 2022, the Eastside Branch opened as the library’s fourth location, with more than 2,000 people visiting on its opening day.
