Regional police catch five thieves red-handed

Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) arrested five men after catching them red-handed, stealing from a Kitchener business.

WRPS got the call around 10 p.m. Sunday, about a theft in progress at a business on Shirley Avenue.

Officers arrived and watched several men loading stolen items into a vehicle.

They moved in and arrested four men on site. A fifth man ran off but was arrested after a brief foot chase.

Two 40-year-olds, a 28-year-old and a 36-year-old all from Toronto and a 26-year-old from Richmond Hill, were jointly charged with theft over $5,000.

The 26-year-old was also charged with wearing a disguise with intent.

All five were held for a bail hearing.
