Parts of the Grand River watershed are under a flood watch or flood warning.
On Wednesday, the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) issued a flood watch for Grand Valley, Waldemar, Drayton, Conestogo, New Hamburg, and Ayr.
West Montrose has been under a flood warning since Monday.
The flood messages followed icy, wet weather over the weekend and more mixed precipitation landed mid-week, with weather alerts in effect for freezing rain and significant rain.
“Rainfall estimates vary between 40 to 75 mm of total precipitation across the watershed,” read the flood message from the GRCA.
For the areas under a flood watch, peak river flows are expected between Thursday morning and Friday afternoon.
River flows also remain elevated across the watershed and a water safety message continues to be in effect.
