Hate-motivated incident in Kitchener leads to arrest

Regional Police arrested a man in Kitchener on January 31 for a hate-motivated incident.

Police went to the area of Highland Road West and Patricia Avenue following multiple reports of a disturbance.

When they arrived police learned an unknown man had been making racial comments towards other people and has assaulted one of them, although no physical injuries were reported.

Police were able to identify and find the man after some investigation.

A 55-year-old Kitchener man now faces charges including one count of assault and one count of cause disturbance.

The man has since been held for a bail hearing.
