As the region contended with a dumping of snow Thursday, Cambridge, Waterloo and Kitchener declared snow events.
It brought a ban to on-street parking for 24 hours Thursday into Friday morning.
In Cambridge, an on-street parking ban rolled out at 6 a.m. Thursday. Both Waterloo and Kitchener’s on-street parking bans took effect at 11:59 a.m. on Jan. 2.
The goal is to keep roadways clear to allow snow plows to do work more efficiently and safely. Any vehicles left on the roadway during individual snow events could be ticketed and/or towed.
In addition, residents in the City of Cambridge are required to clear their sidewalks at the front and side of homes and businesses within 36 hours of the end of snow fall.
Kitchener and Waterloo residents, meanwhile, are responsible for sidewalk clearing within 24 hours after the end of snowfall or ice build-up.
All snow events ended as of 11:59 a.m. Friday.
