More than 120 charges laid over homecoming weekend

Regional police are releasing the numbers for charges laid during the homecoming weekend and they show a positive tread.

A total of 123 charges we’re laid during the weekend that includes, 46 liquor license control act offences, 45 highway traffic act offences and 7 criminal code offences.

That’s down from 138 charges laid during homecoming last year, marking a 10.9 per cent decrease.

The charges are part of Project Safe Semester which runs from the end of August to the end of September.

It aims to promote the safety and wellbeing of post-secondary students during the start of the school year.

According to police in total, the project resulted in 543 charges being laid.
