Guelph police investigating murder, searching for suspects

A man is dead after a targeted shooting in Guelph Tuesday night.

According to police, just after 10 p.m. they were called to a home in the area of Waterloo Avenue and Woodycrest Drive, near Silvercreek Parkway South.

Scott Tracey, media relations coordinator with Guelph Police tells CityNews Kitchener they received reports of multiple gunshots in the area.

“When officers arrived they located a 37-year-old male who did have injuries from a gunshot wound. That male was transported to hospital where unfortunately he was pronounced deceased a short time later.”

Tracey adds, the only description they received of the suspects was two black males with all dark clothing.

He notes at this time, police believe this incident to be targeted and there is no threat to public safety.

Police are expected to remain on scene throughout Wednesday morning as the investigation is ongoing.
