The Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation (CMHF) announced its largest legacy donation gift at the grand opening of the new diagnostic imaging wing at Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH).
A donation of $2 million was made from the estate of Robert L. Cunningham, a former board member of both CMH and CMHF. The new diagnostic imaging wing will be named after him in his honour.
The donation will go towards buying new pharmacy equipment and contribute to CMHF’s Spotlight MRI campaign. The fundraiser’s goal is to raise $5 million to buy a new MRI machine.
Patrick Gaskin, CMH president and chief executive officer (CEO), said with the donation the hospital is over halfway to their goal and is expecting to have their machine running by 2025.
“We’re on a path to offer more and more services over the coming years,” said Gaskin. “We want to welcome our community to and know that they can rely on the care and services of Cambridge Memorial Hospital.”
The next major announcement will come next year with the completion of three new inpatient units, a new medicine unit, a new rehabilitation unit and the new surgery unit.
