Maxwell’s seeing pre-COVID attendance as they prepare for busy fall season

Like many businesses in early March 2020, Maxwell’s Concerts and Events in Waterloo had to shut down due to COVID-19 restrictions.

After re-opening fully in March of 2022, the venue is finally starting to see the audience numbers reach pre-pandemic levels.

Paul Maxwell, president and owner of Maxwell’s, said he is excited to see attendees coming back for the fall season.

“It’s amazing to think that only over a year ago, we were forced to have mask mandates indoors at concert venues and already here we are with none of these restrictions,” said Maxwell.

He said his staff is spending the summer hosting smaller events and rentals while preparing for the upcoming fall concert season.

Many local bars and venues throughout the region had to shut down during the pandemic including Maxwell’s.

Maxwell credits local supporters of his venue for helping to keep their doors open during the nearly two full years of closures.

“We’re extremely fortunate. We have an amazing support base that really helped us during the pandemic. We ran a fundraiser where we sold vinyl decals on our wall that are still up now.”

Some of the bands in the lineup for this fall include Death from Above 1979, Lowest of the Low and Helix.
