Easter weekend service changes

The Region of Waterloo will see changes to some services for Easter weekend, including childcare and senior services.

From Good Friday through Easter Monday, here’s what will operate as usual and what will be closed or impacted.

Unaffected:

  • Garbage, recycling, green bin and yard waste collection.
  • Region of Waterloo Service First Call Centre stays available 24/7.
  • Region of Waterloo Museums, including the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum, Schneider Haus National Historic Site, and McDougall Cottage Historic Site.
  • Operations at Region of Waterloo International Airport, though administrative offices will be closed.

Closed Friday and Monday:

  • All Region of Waterloo administrative offices, including Home Child Care, airport administration and Sunnyside Seniors Services. For urgent issues regarding Home Child Care, call 519-575-4400.
  • Waterloo and Cambridge Waste Management transfer stations for residential drop-off.
  • Community Alzheimer day programs will be closed in Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo, though overnight stay is open.
  • All Region of Waterloo library branches will be locked Friday, Sunday and Monday, but open for regular hours on Saturday. Hours can be found at rwlibrary.ca.

Services closed or with reduced hours on Good Friday, but open Easter Monday:

  • Welcome Spaces in Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge.
  • Sunnyside Wellness Centre.
  • Grand River Transit (GRT) is operating on a holiday service schedule on Good Friday. Those hours can be found on all route schedules. Spring service begins Easter Monday, with GRT running on regular hours that day.
