WRPS officers told to delete TikTok from work phones

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The clock is ticking for TikTok with more agencies directing workers to delete the popular social media app from their official phones.

Waterloo Regional Police officers are the latest to be told to scrub TikTok from their work phones while privacy reviews are conducted.

The official TikTok account for the Waterloo Regional Police Service has also been paused pending the outcome of the reviews.

This is all in response to concerns over the Chinese-owned video sharing platform and the data it gathers.

The chief information officer of Canada recently said that TikTok “presents an unacceptable level of risk to privacy and security” which prompted the federal government to ban its staff from using it on work-issued devices.
