By Erin Anderson

A hospital in Kitchener is getting some major recognition.

St. Mary's has been named one of the World's Best Hospitals and ranked 64th across Canada.

The annual list is published by Newsweek and recognizes the best medical institutions across 27 countries.

“We are delighted and honoured to be recognized as one of the world's best hospitals and in the top six per cent of Canadian hospitals by Newsweek and Statista Inc.,” said St. Mary's General Hospital President, Lee Fairclough, in a release. “Our team is committed to providing the best care possible and do this because of their tremendous dedication to our patients. These past two years have been very challenging for healthcare providers especially. Time and time again, our team members answered the call to care.”

The top four Canadian hospitals are all in Toronto, with the University Health Network getting top spot.
