Waterloo Public Library offering free exam stress kits for students

By Germain Ma

Students know all too well that exam season is no fun—coming with increased pressure, heavy work loads, and maybe a few extra pimples.

Waterloo Public Library is offering free exam stress kits for students to hopefully, provide a bit of a pick-me-up.

“We want to let them know that we're cheering for them, that we see all the hard work they're putting in, and hope that they're successful in their exams,” said Kelly Kipfer, manager of community engagement and children's services at Waterloo Public Library.

The kits are available now until December 18 to any student studying at library branches.

Student ID is not required to receive a kit.

Library staff will be handing them out to students they see studying, and students can also approach staff members at any of the three branches to ask for a kit.

Kipfer says the kits contain items like snacks, hot drinks, and encouraging messages.

She said, “One of the groups that we really wanted to work hard at connecting with is university students, who are coming in, many of them making Waterloo their new home while they go to school, and really saying that this is a place in the community where we want you to be and feel comfortable, welcome, and included.”

Kipfer said that staff have seen students' faces light up when receiving the kits.
