Kitchener looking for new ideas for The Boathouse

The City of Kitchener is looking for new ideas for The Boathouse in Victoria Park.

On Tuesday, the city released a request for proposal (RFP).

They're requesting applicants propose their future vision for The Boathouse, which could include restaurant services, live music, entertainment, or more.

“It’s been a long time coming due to the pandemic, but today is the first step in bringing back The Boathouse for the residents of our community,” Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic said in a news release.

“This beloved venue in the heart of Victoria Park has enormous potential as a favourite gathering spot for Kitchener residents and visitors from throughout Waterloo region and beyond. We are looking forward to receiving some great proposals from interested operators to take over this unique space, ideally with a mix of food/restaurant services and live music and entertainment.” 

The previous operator used The Boathouse as a restaurant featuring live music. The RFP was then put on hold due to the pandemic.

Interested applicants have until January 10, 2022 to submit their plans (City of Kitchener bid opportunities website).
