Those visiting Conestoga College will need to be vaccinated by winter term

Conestoga College is the latest to introduce mandatory COVID-19 vaccines on its campuses.

That's expected to be the case by January, 2022. The college is hoping to fully re-open by then.

In an emailed statement to 570 NEWS, a spokesperson for the college says more details on the winter term will be provided in the near future.

Conestoga wants to give students, staff and visitors advance notice of their intentions, so they can plan accordingly.

President John Tibbits also emailed a letter to staff last week, informing them about the policy.

“With September just a couple of weeks away, it is unrealistic to restrict campus access in the fall term only to those who have been fully vaccinated. Students and employees who are required to be on-campus to participate in essential learning activities need fair notice and a sufficient window of time to adapt to new expectations or make alternative arrangements.” Tibbits said in part.

Students who live in residence or play varsity sports must be fully vaccinated before the fall term begins.
